The University of Kerala is a collegiate public state university located in the state of Thiruvananthapuram, India. It was founded in 1937 by the Maharaja of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, who was also the first chancellor. It is the first public university in Kerala. Sir CP Ramaswamy Iyer, the then Diwan (Prime Minister) of the state became the first Vice-Chancellor. Now the Governor of Kerala acts as the Chancellor of this University. The university has more than 150 affiliated colleges with sixteen faculties and 43 teaching and research departments.

University of Kerala Overview

The University of Kerala was established in June 1937 as an effort to establish quality higher education in the state of Kerala. It follows a fundamental mission to provide opportunities for higher education to all castes and creeds in a non-sectarian spirit.
